Someone Save My Life Tonight

I have finally found them - the perfect shoes. I actually had a dream about vintage brown leather t-straps a couple nights ago, so I swear it must have been "thrift fate". They remind me of everything I love about Liebemarlene and the Snail and the Cyclops, and all the other internet vintage-purveyors that I am hopelessly inspired by. This one's for you!

In other news, does anyone else constantly try (and fail) in attempts to define their style? In magazines they always ask "how would you describe your style?" I am forever trying to reconcile my music tastes with my clothing tastes. I mean, you could look at this picture and never guess that my music tastes run towards the Minor Threat/Black Flag/Bikini Kill side of the spectrum. As much I would like to be the 'rock chick', I'm just much too feminine for that. The best I can come up with is "dishevelled librarian." How would YOU describe your style?

Oh yeah, and don't forget the SHAMELESS SELF PROMOTION.

I dislike the idea of defining my style. I just dress how I dress. It seems to me that it's only the beholder who feels a need to put labels on things.

I fail utterly in attempts to define my style. And I don't really find that the music I listen to affects my style particularly.

But anyway those shoes are adorable! And the voting gap is closing....

i actually have a description to my style...
gutter punk chick meets effy from skins, going to some indie-rock festival
^^
oh, i always thought the cooler people didn't have to dress to suit their music tastes.... i have some friends who are like obsessed with punk music and stuff and dress kinda generic.... so sometimes i feel like an idiot with the way i dress haha
i still love it though xD

Before I always thought I had to dress by my musical tastes. I failed miserably because that just wasn't who I was. It was who I thought I should be. So, I don't think musical tastes should really define your style. It does definitely aid finding your style niche or whatever you'dl ike to call it. =)

The only word I can come up with is comfortable for mine. All other words seem too cashed out right now, especially "vintage". Though I love the word, I just can't bear to use it right now. Let's see, I'd say the indie music fits my style, but then there are other things like my strange attraction to electronica that just can't be found anywhere in my wardrobe!

I have two ways I describe my style and neither particularly makes sense.

1. "It's like if stylistically, Blair from Gossip Girl had a baby with Joey Ramone and the baby's godparents were Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love."

2. "It's like if Alice in Wonderland fell down the rabbit hole into CBGB."

Perfect shoes? Yes.
Even perfecter dress? Yesser.
Ohh, two nonexistant words in one line... anyways, you look so lovely, and no, I can never define my style either.
It's just like I have three babies named "preppy...ish" "not preppyish" and "wtf mate?" and I keep yelling "DONT MAKE ME CHOOSE."

It's so difficult to label my style...as cliche as it sounds, it's just me! In shoe news, those really are perfect. Hail the thrifting gods!

That's funny, because I feel similarly - I tend to lean ridiculously toward the mannish end of the spectrum in terms of personality and interests, but I wear skirts about 5 days a week and lean slightly more towards the dirty hippie with weird eastern europeanness mixed in end of the spectrum sartorially. Actually, I'm not sure if I can describe my style, now that I think of it, although I'm pretty sure it's there. somewhere. Musically, well, I'm pretty sure I've avoided the mall-goth look successfully, but other than that music doesn't really affect these things I don't think.

I love those shoes and I love that dress!

And I've been voting for you too. Any story about stealing old clothes from old people deserves to win!

Great shoes!
My style description: "way too young for my age". It works at any occasion because it causes confusion and certainly doesn't answer the question. :)

My 'style' veers from' lazy' to 'can't be bothered'. On a good day I'd call it youthful classic but...that sounds DULL! One of my old work colleagues used to call me the psychedelic hospital porter when I wore my Margiela khaki tee over fuschia long sleeve tops and *blushing* YELLOW cords. It was kind of (very) early nu rave. It looked good at the time, honest.

Those shoes are lovely.

Style? Everything and anything that fits and most things that don't pretty much sum my 'style' up.

Gosh, every time i think about defining exactly what my style is, i get a headache just thinking about it, haha, i really don't know..

my style changes with the days. i have tried (and failed!) many times to force it into one little category, but it gets boring! i like to change things up all the time, and leave people wondering what i'm going to show up in next.
BTW, love the outfit. i wish i had found those shoes!
