Elizabethan Rough

If I ever need to make like Queen Eizabeth I and buy a neck ruff, I feel safe knowing I can count on Gareth Pugh to deliver the goods.

This probably sounds like intense sarcasm on my part, but as a massive history geek I think Queen Elizabeth I (and therefore the neck ruffs associated with her) is incredibly cool. If you delve deeper she was a massive trendsetter for her times! Deadly white lead face paint, anyone? No matter what people think, I would kill to dress like this for the day.

Yay, for history nerds. Gareth Pugh's collection really creeped me out, but it does have interesting historical influences. And creepy can be kind of a good thing...

Apparently the hair dye they used made their hair fall out, so women wore wigs that were fastened to their heads with lard. Corsets probably creep me out the most, with the whole organ and bone shifting that goes on.

I'm the biggest history geek in the world. You don't even know.

so ive been getting a lot of hatemail about that comment regarding nativesque necklaces. oh man. i guess i touched some raw
nerve. i didnt mean to be provocative. i was mostly just feeling bad cause i usually love your blog and id just seen some internet store selling 'native american wigs complete with feathers' and it made me think
that eventually that's all natives will be remembered as. oh well..
