Last Splash

Summer is almost over and I've been saving my money like a maniac (tuition is a bitch), but I wanted to reward myself with something nice before I had to go back to living on a student budget of broke. I am nowhere near rich, but I think it's a good idea to start buying 'investment pieces' whenever you can. So on the weekend, my friends and I drove up to north of Toronto to hit up Holt Renfrew Last Call, where all past season designer items are sold at marked down prices. After a long browse-through, only a few things really stuck out to me. The dressing room was the moment of truth - and the truth was, I really needed to buy this Balenciaga dress. The drape of the neckline is beyond perfect.

There it is - my first ever big ticket purchase! I love how it's very classy and womanly and professional but is simple enough to jazz up with brooches or weird leggings. Like this!

I also ended up with a pair of Rag & Bone pants, that I wore to work yesterday and are possible the most comfy things to ever envelope my legs.

And that, my friends, is the rest of the story.

It's wonderful! That neckline is soo lovely. I'm saving my pennies at the moment for my first designer piece. From an outlet of course :p

The dress is "busy" enough without the tights and boots. You look amazing in that first shot.
I can't believe you found a pair of skinny pants that are comfortable (jealous much?). They look great with that blouse, very professional.
All in all, nice haul. : )

my word ver. is preacess, which I may adopt as my word for the day. My definition: A preachy princess type girl.

Oh man! Rag & Bone jeans, they're just so soft you could die. I guess they should be for over £100 though :/
I think I need a job.

Aww, what a wonderful dress!! It looks just right on you, too, and I love the idea of buying a dress that you'll be able to keep in your closet forever and maybe hand down to your kids (if you like them!).

Amazing purchase !
Living in Paris (and worse, studying fashion design), I'm surrounded all year-long by beautiful pieces... hard not to fall for them. But I might. One day.
I don't usually leave comments (I feel I can't say anything interesting) on your blog, but you have to know I love it and I, too, am in this 90s grunge/my so called life/L7 vibe... and I just created a blog ! take a look if you please

What a beautifully classic purchase, I bet you are so giddy. I bought some designer pants (Alice and Olivia) about 6 years ago and am excited to start wearing them again now that the crazy flares are coming back in. They are pretty wild, crazy small stripes in pastel/bright rainbow colors. Other than those I don't think I've made a good classic (those pants weren't very classic) designer purchase in a while, I think you have inspired me. :)

In the sea of shallow, uninteresting, overly materialistic blogs in the blogosphere, your awesome humor, quirky taste, and awesome Pixies-loving music taste stands out to me. You are my absolute favorite blogger! Thank you for sharing your amazing musings.
BTW, what is your favorite Pixies album? I'm dying to know! Mine's Doolittle.
