Parochial Morning

Frankly, my fashion mojo hasn't been sizzling lately. Something about "summer" renders me utterly incapable of putting an outfit together that involves anything more than an old t-shirt and jean shorts. Today I was about to walk out the door in that age-old combo until I took the extra time and actually put some thought into my clothes. So if you're feeling rather uninspired these days, have no fear you're in (questionably) good company.

I am having completely the same dilemma! But I got some new sandals through the post yesterday which are making things a little more exciting. I like the neckerchief and the socks.

i knooooow what you mean, but nerd socks are always a fantastic summer accessory!

au contraire my dear, i've been so inspired by your outfits/posts lately! And I am digging the hair a lot, you're groovy.

I know what you mean...it's hard be sartorially inspired when it's hot and muggy and all you want is an iced tea. don't give up, though!!! Love your neck scarf, I need to try that one of these days :)

I feel like that all seasons...there's a lot of jeans/t-shirts in my life these days.

no! summer is the BEST for dressing up, trust me, in england with rain and coldness practically everyday the 10809231892 layering, plus umbrella, plus bags weighing you down with college books gets very frustrating!

if i lived in a hotter country i would be living in high waisted levis shorts, cute little waistcoats and boleros, lovely light jackets and blazers, floral skirts with no tights and not get beeped at by cars!

Totally agree. I've been secretly working out (ALL THE TIME) and I constantly find myself in yoga pants and tight tank tops.

I really like the proportions of the shirt to shorts. I want to hem myself a shirt like that now!

Ahhh I love it! It's so boy-scout-esque but in a totally cool (yet nerdy) way! Lovely.
I like the scarfs too, whenever a think an outfit is lacking that WOW factor, I always add a scarf :)

That's such a perfect summer outfit. I wish I saw this post before I went charity shop (thrift to you!) shopping earlier, I was so uninspired.
Now I know I want shorts and scarves!

there's just something about hte heat!
maybe it's just the idea of simplicity- the less clothes, the cooler you feel. which means that i wear tent dresses in the lightest cotton possible. maybe i should just tie dye pregnant lady dresses and call it a day.

Ug, I'm the exact same way! When it's this hot, all I want to do is tie my hair up in a bun and throw on some loose shorts and a baggy tank. It's hard to be fashionable in such heat!

you still look pretty cool though

Definitely know how you feel! I'm the same in the summer. I'll be starting a job soon though where I have to semi-dress up every day, so hopefully I'll find some more inspiration

The same thing happens to me, I spend all summer in t-shirts and denim shorts. I find as long as I have interesting shoes then I'm still satisfied with my basic boring outfits, shoes make all of the difference!

I thought I was the only one. I think it's the heat that makes it hard to co-ordinate pieces together. When you're sweating like a pig, you're more keen on taking things off rather than putting them on. I'm totally digging that cropped t-shirt.

Angelica said...

Yeah I know exactly what you mean. When it's hot you can't layer and stuff, so basically you have to find individual pieces that are awesome enough to make an entire outfit...which usually means shirt and shorts, or just a dress with little accessorizing.

I like that scarf with the rest of your outfit. I feel like I get boring in the summer because I usually just want to be as close to naked as I can get away with. very little clothing gets very boring very fast.

I definatly have those mornings. or days. or entire weeks. It just gets to darn hot over here to even think about being awesome with outfits sometimes.
I really love your cropped-looking shirt and scarf~ it looks breezy.

You remind me of a really stylish scout leader here. I feel like you could round up a sweet game of dodgeball, and still be chic enough to go have coffee later. Don't let summer get you down. You are still working it more than I am most days.

if you're wearing shorts, does that mean it's warm in ontario? does that mean it's warm in calgary? i'm coming to canada! and dont know what to pack.... any advice on driving?

you look adorable. love the bangs girl.

I'm feeling the same vibe really, especially because I have a fondness for layering and it just isn't happening in this weather. That being said I wore a mickey mouse jumper as a pair of legging things and it looked crazy... and then five minutes later it was too hot. It's so sad because I own like 15 jumpers and I won't get to wear them for months SIGH.

Well I think you look lovely here, as usual.
I can sympathize with the lack of outfit imagination, living out of a suitcase is getting VERY TIRED. Though I must admit I often feel that same thing with a full wardrobe! haha ain't nothing wrong with jeans and t-shirt though!:) xx

huzzah. and california weather has been acting really screwy lately...it's may and I'm still wearing long sleeves and etc.

when all else fails, I resort to old man clothes and socks and loafers teehee

I have no idea how i'll handle hot weather yet!
