Fall Jams

Lately I've been telling everyone that I'm "turning goth". This is mostly a joke, since "goth" usually brings to mind images of miserable teenagers in heavy eyeliner, dog collars and bondage pants. But I prefer a romanticized version of the term, that should be associated with Edward Gorey drawings, listening to the Fall or My Bloody Valentine and wearing velvet Comme des Garcon, witchy Prada boots and this dress. Also, I would kill to own a pair of Margiela tabi boots.

Yep, I've got my fall inspiration in the bag.

Ha! I have actually been doing something very similar, telling people I'm going goth. Actually the exact same thing...totally going for a Bilinda Butcher goth.

I'm usually greeted with cries of "no!" because everyone always envisions hot topic clothing.

I used to hate those Margielas. Now I love them. Fashion hate often turns to love for me.

i definitely prefer your take on goth - i don't really need a pair of knee high boots with zippers, buckles velcro and studs!

ps love that hole album.

I feel the same way! I had decided to go with bright colours and florals and now suddenly I like black, deep purples, velvet and everything dark.

i'm right there with you. i feel weird labelling a lot of what i wear as 'gothic'- because it does make me think of manic panic and grumpy pre-teens, but a bit of comme, margiela and edward gorey, you can't go wrong. looking forward to seeing your fall outfits!

I was in the lead for a while on a eBay bidding war for these freaking amazing, authentic Margela tabi boots. Sadly they began to skyrocket near the end, but I fought with I had!

I bought an awesome Free People hoodie/sweater and I'm wrapping all of my fall inspiration around that.
I like that dress too, but I'm not sure about the boots. Just got done listening to Cool Down- Slightly Stoopid, very mellow. xo d

YES. I am so into the Redefining Goth Movement: MYSPACE VAMPIRE TEENS NO MORE.

YESSSSS to all of it!
I can only hope/pray that I come across some super awesome Margiela-esque tabi boots before I die.
(not likely but a girl can dream, right?)

Please. Instead of drawing your 'goth' inspiration from My Bloody Valentine, refer to:

Bauhaus. ('She's in Parties' over and over and over again)
The Virgin Prunes. (Listen to 'Baby Turns Blue' and tell me you don’t want to be covered in lace napping in a mausoleum. Not possible)
Siouxsie and the Banshees.
The Cure.

Read Lost Souls by Poppy Z Brite.

Btw, I really like reading your blog.

this is my second comment here but anonymous- could you be more up your own ass?
if isabel is inspired by my bloody valentine, that's who she's inspired by. you can be inspired by bauhaus if you want.

I agree with all of this.

That first photoooo! And I love those boots, oh gosh.

i've been turning capelet/cloak/hood ideas over in my head. velvet indeed is a must.
however i'm having a hard time daydreaming about fall when we have yet to see summer. there are alot of pineapple tropical print dresses that need to worn dammit!

Whoa. I certainly was not typing from inside my own rectum as that is an impossible task.

My comment was neither rude nor self righteous. I am actually surprised that it was taken that way as I said nothing even remotely critical.

Honestly, I was just giving a few more ideas.

Geez girl, have a cocktail- the internet is never and should never be taken so seriously.

great little selecion to get some ideas for my fall/pre-fall wardrobe.
and those ankle boots are so amazing it's not even funny!

I love that girl's dress, although I thought it was just a pretty coat. I do like classy black clothes, although I can never decide what style I want. Sometimes I just cant keep away from clashing bright colours.
Afraid I can't see the appeal in those shoes though. They are like toe socks, it's a concept I just never got.

I tend to see your take on goth to be a little softer around the edges, and more like the romantic Goth
