Real Life Dementor
Full disclosure: You know when you're a kid and you have to run up the stairs really fast without looking back because you're afraid monsters are chasing you? When I was younger, I was afraid that Marilyn Manson was chasing me, with his creepy eye make-up and stringy hair. Eventually that primal fear turned to admiration and last night I spent a fair amount of time last night reconnecting with my inner pissed off 15-year-old by watching Marilyn Manson videos. I got to thinking about not only what a cultural icon he is, but also how much of a fly dresser he is.

The Beautiful People watches just like a demented Tim Walker fantasy fashion editorial. Manson's use of white make-up, shadowy figures and stilts helps him to appear literally larger than life.

I've been a huge Manson fan since Portrait was released. (Giving away my age a bit here!) I basically grew up with the band and my style followed suit. From a 13 year old stripey tights wearing goth right through to the cyber punk aesthetic of Dope Show. Love it - love it all x
I've been a huge fan of him always. He's actually really super-smart, never takes crap from interviewers. I love that about him.
ahaha! the FIRSYT tiem i ever saw the first video- it was nghit time, i had left the mtv on- i woke up to him in the middle of the night- i was frightened, but intrugued- i kept watching but when it was over- i turned the tv off and coverd my head with the blankets... he was scary bears... then i saw him a few years later at the fetish ball- he was being kind of hidden, but he was there with dita (she was performing)...memories.. le' sigh! :)
