Frumptastic

So I went to Value Village in search of some pants that didn't make me feel like a total frump, and ended leaving with with possibly the frumpiest pair of 90s Gap jeans in the store. It's a little funny how the jeans that make me feel the most confident aren't the ones that are trendy or sexy, its the ones that actually just fit me comfortably. Pants that fit: what a revelation. I decided to wear it with my Cape Cod fisherman pullover for that perfect "L.L. Bean catalogue" look.

Also, have you got your copy of PLANT magazine issue #2 yet? Because Kevin did, and it looks rad with his Supreme toque. Kevin wrote an article on the evil empire of Apple and their censorship of Phone Story, an app game criticizing the environmental footprint of smartphones. Can't handle the heat? Then get outta the kitchen!

So far most of the people who have bought PLANT #2 are repeat customers, so it would be awesome to get the message out there to some fresh blood/young talent. Also, I hear that more people would be interested in purchasing a combo package of issue #1 and issue #2 if I printed more copies so leave me a comment or shoot me an email if yr interested.

Oh I liked how you paired them with the chic shoes and jumper =)
In fact I think jeans like that are very chic, much better quality and comfort than most.

Alexa Chung's been rocking some ankle swingers recently! (not that you need back up haha)

That sounds like a really good article- go Kevin. I hate the way they keep bringing out new models so soon and I heard that an apple shop told people to throw away their old ipods in exchange for new ones when the first models didn't work properly.

Nothing wrong with some 90's Gap in my humble opinion. Looking pretty smart with those specatator shoes too.

I love Plant 2!! I plan to be a repeat-repeat buyer.. although I am surely passing the love along to more folk too!

Ah those shoes are fabulous. As for the Gap jeans. They're classic. And you do look better when comfortable.

Hi! I'd be interested in getting the 2 for 1 combo. If you could email me with the details as to price and what not. I live in BC so hopefully shipping won't cost so much. :)

I totally sympathize with the whole pants issue. I have the hardest time finding the perfect pair of pants so I usually resort to skirts.
And I think a PLANT combo deal would be awesome so I can catch up! Do you do international shipping?

Hi there! I've been reading for a while but never commented. I just wanted to pass along this article: http://freethoughtblogs.com/greta/2011/09/02/fashion-is-a-feminist-issue/, thought you might like it.

I love that fisherman sweater and those "unsexy" jeans have a certain Katherine Hepurn look to it. I love it.

I love the outfit! The pants I'd describe as boyfriend jeans. They're not as popular, but I think they're cooler than skinny jeans, boot cut, and flares. They're also flattering on everyone, and what's not to like about comfort? I love the sweater, it looks more vintage J. Crew to me rather than L.L. Bean though. It's very new England; preppy but not overly so. I love your ability to match things. It's a great contrast to me because I go out of my way to not match, for example, bag with shoes, etc... I really admire that. I also had an idea to propose. I saw that you lowered the price to four dollars for each issue of plant magazine when you buy both issues. I thought it would be cool if the zine was subscription based. I love the zine, and it would be easier for me to buy it if it was subscription based ('cause I'm kind of broke). Just thought I'd mention it.

You are such a babe. The colder it gets, the frumpier my style gets. I'm really okay with that.

You are going to last the winter in style, my friend. And I still need to buy Plant #2, hopefully it's even more awesome than the first one!(which I've read cover to cover about 20 times already)

I actually like those jeans a lot. they look pretty stylish to me for some reason and more flattering than most jeans, not to mention comfortable. I used to have jeans like that in 10th grade, wish I still had them.

I got PLANT #2 in the mail 2 days ago, planning to do a review on my blog soon!

also this is totally random, but I think you totally look like Donna Hayward from Twin Peaks :)

I havent gotten my issue yet, but I think its because my mail man secretly hates me and is keeping it for himself, that and my Nylon magazines...those almost never make it to my house. But I am eagerly awaiting its arrival. So excited!!!

I put some money into my paypal and as soon as the transfer goes through I'm picking up #2!

dude, I totally missed out on Plant #1 because I am fucking lazy so I would be ridiculously stoked if you printed more! Please? I will beg if I need to.

You manage to make frumpy jeans look rad. That sweater doesn't hurt.

the first real pair of levi's skinny that came out was in 2006 and they fit just like that! they're the most modest jeans ever and even though i've had them for 5 years they're outliving all the new levis i bought in color and thickness -
